Make Decisions and Surrender to the Flow
In business you are constantly faced with making decisions daily – small and large. Decisions can be as simple as choosing to pick up an unplanned phone call, answer an email, hire a new team member, or launch a new program – each decision will have an impact on your business.
Whatever the decision is, you must be swift about it (otherwise risk getting stuck – not creating momentum). Once the decision is made, you must surrender to the flow – this is very important to remember and practice.
Here’s why…
Many of the decisions we make have outcomes that are often out of our control and therefore we have to surrender, and be ready to pivot. Let go of the attachment to the outcome and set your best intentions forward to increase your best-case scenario reality.
When we’re too attached to the outcome of the decision, and it doesn’t go as planned, chances are you’re going to get stuck in self-doubt. You’ll start to postpone making decisions, and creep into procrastination to avoid having to make the decision.
Hindering thoughts like, “I can’t do this,” “I don’t know what I’m doing,” “I’m an imposter,” and “I’m scared to fail,” begin to influence our behaviors and pretty soon it can be a downward spiral to bad decisions, and the ultimate demise, stress = no creativity.
With a single decision, you have the power to change your life forever.
Why not change it for the better – simply by making decisions you can create momentum towards your best life, and business – even if the outcome of that decision doesn’t yield the results you expected.
If that decision doesn’t end up yielding the results you want, time to pivot. Move on to the next opportunity and the next decision you must make to keep moving forward.
Let me give you an example, from my first side hustle that became profitable, it’s a festival I started in my backyard, a 16 acre farm in Northern VA. The festival started as an overnight fundraiser and in 2018, moved to a 100-acre farm, in the same area.

To save you from the nitty-gritty of the inner workings of festival life, I’ll share with you the MOST important lesson I’ve learned in business so far about making decisions and then surrendering to the outcome…
Stay calm, breathe and trust you are connected to a higher power, and release the things that are out of your control – also don’t worry about getting EVERYTHING DONE. As you move throughout this entrepreneurship journey, you will become VERY aware, that things don’t always go as planned, projects don’t always get done on time, and success happens when you have the ability to let go, trust, and pivot.
We have to quickly shift to see the opportunity, versus fall into a state of fear, overwhelm and worry.
I’ve had to remember this in the past couple weeks, and it’s no easy feat, but the more practice you have doing it, the faster you can implement your decisions and pivot if you’re not getting the desired outcome.
